Dude, thanks for the head up on this! You do know that a newspaper like the Stevens Point Journal would eat this up. Three hometown kids bike across africa. They could run one of your blogs once a week. Seriously, all it would take it one phone call from you to the features editor. I'm sure they would even do a feature story at the start, and at the end of your trip.
